Contexto Battle is a 1v1 mode of Contexto. You and another player get the same secret word and race to find it before time runs out. Every guess shows how close it is to the secret word, and the first player to find it wins.
The first player to guess the secret word (rank #1) wins immediately. If nobody finds it before the timer ends, the player whose closest guess has the better rank wins. If both players have the same best rank, or nobody made a guess, the battle ends in a tie.
Choose "Play with a friend", pick a battle length of 3, 5 or 10 minutes and send the invite link to your friend. When your friend opens the link and presses Join, a short countdown starts and you both race to find the same secret word.
Choose "Play online" and you are paired with the next player who is looking for a match. Online battles always last 5 minutes, so everyone in the queue can be matched quickly. If nobody is found you can cancel or invite a friend instead.
During the battle you can see how close your opponent is, their best rank and how many guesses they made, but never the words they guessed. Once the battle is over you can see the guesses of both players.
If your opponent gives up, you win straight away. If they close the page or lose their connection, they have one minute to come back. If they do not, they are counted as having left the match and you win. If you lose connection, just reload the page and you will return to the same battle.
No. You can play as a guest with a nickname. Signing in lets you use your account name.
No. Battles are played for bragging rights. Your daily statistics and leaderboard position are not changed by battles.
Yes. Both players always get the same secret word and the same ranking for every guess, so the race is completely fair. The word is picked at random from a list of common words for each battle.
